It was founded in the 18-th century by Russia tsar Peter the Great. It was a large industrial center of Urals and of the whole country. Having very good geographical position, on the border between Europe and Asia, Ekaterinburg became a very important trade center.

In the XX-th century it became the administrative center of the Urals. Many plants were constructed in the city, which brought to a considerable increase in population.

Nowadays Ekaterinburg plays a very important role in the economical, educational and cultural life of the country. It can be reached on Russian cruises. It is a great way to supplement your Moscow vacation or St Petersburg travel.

Ekaterinburg is a city that was the center of historical events that changed the course of development of the country. Ekaterinburg is the city where the last ussia tsar Nikolai II and the members of his family were killed.

Nikolay came to the throne in 1894. He ruled the country in the most difficult times for Russia. The World War I weakened the county and lead to Revolution, which took place in 1917. After evolution Nikolay was arrested and killed with his family in Ekaterinburg in 1918. Their remains were burned and hidden. Only in 1979 the remains were discovered, but unfortunately could not be exhumed for political reasons.

When in 1991 Bois Yeltsin became Russia president he ordered to retrieve the remains. The experts from different countries came for investigation and proved that the bones were those of the members of Imperial family.

On the place where stood the Ipatiev house, where the family members had spend their last days a beautiful Cathedral-on-the-blood was built. The grand opening took place in 2003.

High-speed skiing in Kamchatka

If you are thinking about travel to Russia, Kamchatka is the place to go. Here are a few interesting facts about Russia Kamchatka that will make you want to go.

The Kamchatka Peninsula is located in the most eastern part of Russia. It is a young tourist region, because it has been a military zone in the Soviet period and access was restricted. The Kamchatka Peninsula is 1200 km long and 450 km wide. The most popular mountains for climbers are Avachinskaya Sopka and Kriakskaya Sopka.

There are about 300 volcanoes on the peninsula, including 29 active ones. It is possible to ski on some volcanoes. Many tourists come here to ski on the volcanoes. Using helicopters you’ll get to the volcanoes, but you must note that renting a helicopter is rather expensive. If you join a group of other tourists, then you’ll be able to afford renting a helicopter. But if you are in good physical form you can travel on foot. Some volcanoes demand initial climbing preparation and you also need to know how to use crampons and an ice axe. On Avachinsky volcano you can reach the altitude of nearly 2000. You’ll have an opportunity to ski three times a day from that altitude.

Beginning from May you’ll be able to make the ascent to the mountains on skis. You’ll be able to admire the nature of mountains especially when you stat descending from the mountains.

High-speed skiing in Kamchatka is really impressive for those who are not afraid of speed. You’ll enjoy every minute spent in this wonderful place. This is the place for perfect Russia tours.

Irkutsk

Irkutsk is one of the largest cities in Russia.
